Privacy and Cookies

Background    

This Notice is given in accordance with the Data Protection Act of the Cayman Islands, and sets out how Alphataur Partners Limited collects, stores and processes data which we collect from and in respect of our clients and third parties, including personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act).  For the purposes of this Notice, references to Alphataur Partners Limited, or we or us, shall include Alphataur Partners Limited, its directors, officers and employees as well as their delegates and affiliates.

Personal data     

We collect information, including personal data, directly from you or otherwise from third parties and public sources.  We collect this information in the course of our business, including to ensure that we comply with our contractual obligations and entitlements as well applicable legal and regulatory requirements (including but not limited to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing measures, those relating to the prevention and detection of tax evasion and other financial crime, sanctions, automatic exchange of tax information, and certain other requests from governments, regulators, tax authorities and law enforcement agencies).

Information which we collect (relating to you and/or persons connected with you) includes the following:

  • name and date/place of birth

  • nationality and passport/identification document (including photograph)

  • contact details (including telephone, email and home/business address)

  • details of employment, income, assets, source of wealth and proof of funds

 

We may also obtain information which falls outside of the categories listed above.

 

Information sharing    

We may share information which we collect, including personal data, to third-party service providers (including, but not limited to, lawyers, fund administrators and other financial counterparties, consultants, auditors and applicable regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies) where doing so is reasonably necessary or desirable in connection with the ordinary course of our business.  Otherwise, we will not sell, exchange or transfer your personal data.

 

Our business is international, and we may from time to time be required to transfer your personal data to a jurisdiction which may not have in place a data protection framework which is equivalent to that of the Cayman Islands.

 

Safekeeping and retention    

It is important that we keep your personal data safe.  Accordingly, we have implemented an appropriate information security framework, which includes IT and organisational components.  We will retain your personal data in accordance with our information security practices, and we will retain it for as long as we require to do so in order to fulfil our contractual, legal, regulatory and other obligations and for our legitimate interests.

Electronic communication and website     

We may collect personal and other information via electronic and other internet-based communication methods.  This includes email, and also data obtained automatically through cookies or similar technology when you visit our website (alphataur.com). 

 

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit.  They are widely used in order to make websites work  more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.  Cookies allow us to understand who has seen which pages, and to determine the most popular areas of our website.  We use cookies to store visitors’ preferences, and to record session information, such as duration of visit.  Cookies also allow us to make our website more user friendly, and to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information.  You can set your browser not to accept cookies, however doing so may result in sub-optimal performance of certain website features.

 

Your rights     

The Data Protection Act affords you certain rights and protections, including the opportunity:

  • to request access to your personal data;

  • to restrict the use of your personal data;

  • to have corrected any personal data held which is incomplete or inaccurate;

  • to request that we cease to process your personal data;

  • in certain circumstances to require the deletion from our records of your personal data; and

  • to complain to the Cayman Islands Ombudsman.

Acceptance of terms     

By visiting our website and/or sending us your personal information and documents (some or all of which may contain personal data), you shall be deemed to acknowledge and accept the terms of this Notice.  Your continued use of our website and services shall constitute your acknowledgement and acceptance of any changes to this Notice.
